Lymington Win Junior Double at Coalporters

Lymington Rowing Club had a successful day at the first regatta of the season at Coalporters last Saturday.

Lymington had 2 crews in Ladies Junior.  After their recent win in the Southampton Head, the A crew of Charlotte Batt, Erin Oliver, Kasia Koniec, Laura Viner & Cox Joe Bull were confident, getting a good start  they reached the turn first, where a good turn from Joe saw them come out ahead of Lymington B, with BTC in 3rd.  Both crews rowed back strongly, pulling away from BTC.

Both Joe & the boat were involved in the next race, the men’s Junior fours.  A strong row from the young crew of Jonny Prince, Tom Fishwick, Luke Corbridge, James Phillips & Cox Joe Bull brought their first Junior win.  After a successful season at Men’s & Ladies Novice in 2009, it was good to see Lymington winning both Men’s & Ladies Junior in 2010.

Lymington had an additional 5 crews.  The young Ladies Novice crew won their heat, to finish a close second in the semi-final.  The Novice Boys were second in their heat, just missing out on the semi-final.  At the other end of the age range, the Veteran 50s won their heat and finished a close second to Christchurch in the final.

The Senior Pair also made the final, where they finished second.  The Senior four had a very close race in their heat, losing out to BTC by half a canvas.

The action moves to the Isle of Wight this weekend, with Ryde Regatta on Saturday & Shanklin on Sunday.  Lymington hold their own regatta next week (Saturday 22 May) at Milford on Sea, starting at 11am.
