Lymington Win 6 at Milford Regatta

Lymington Rowing Club hosted their round of the Hants & Dorset circuit last Saturday at Milford-on-Sea in glorious sunshine.  The regatta was attended by 11 other local rowing clubs and Lymington came away with 6 wins and the Aggregate trophy.

Both the Junior Men and the Junior Ladies gained their 4th wins of the season, edging towards the 7 required to win the Championship in the 13 regatta season.  Two of the Junior crew also rowed Junior Pair for the first time and were first out of the turns and pulling away when equipment failure scuppered their race.

The Lymington Senior 4 had their best row of the season so far.  They reached the turn first, but had to stop for a few seconds to avoid a collision and finished 3rd.  The 4 split into 2 Senior Pairs where Lymington finished 1st, 3rd & 4th.

There were encouraging results in the competitive Novice section, with a 2nd for the Lymington Girls and a very close 3rd for the Boys.  Alex Barnes did well to reach the final of the Men’s Novice scull.

Lymington were well represented in the Veteran section with a 1st & 3rd in Vet 50 fours, 1st & 2nd in Vet Pairs and 2nd in Vet Sculls.

Lymington also managed 3rd in the Quad Sculls and won the Mixed Dave Stafford Challenge Memorial Race in memory of their late Captain.

The club would like to thank Ken Thornber, leader of Hampshire County Council for presenting the prizes.
