Lymington Win 2 at Christchurch Regatta
Regatta Report |
Aug 10, 2010 at 9:09AM Last Saturday 7th August Lymington took 5 crews to Christchurch regatta. The regatta is held on an S shaped, 2 lane course on the river Stour. Lymington had 3 crews in finals and picked up 2 wins.
The J16 crew of Arran Murton, Rhys Vaughan, Billy House & Joe Bull were coxed by Tim Bull. Their first race was against Ryde. After a good start, the race was stopped as a boat blocked the course. On the restart, Lymington once again got away well to win comfortably. In the final the Boys were up against home club Christchurch. The race was much closer, but Lymington just won by 2 ½ lengths.
Lymington Ladies Juniors maintained their unbeaten record in 2010 with their 9th win of the Season. Their focus now shifts to the South Coast Championships in September.
In Men’s Junior, going into Christchurch regatta Lymington had 5 wins and Christchurch 4. Both crews reached the final reasonably easily. Both crews were really going for it off the start and as they came out of the turns there was nothing between the crews. On the way back Christchurch were able to find something extra that Lymington couldn’t match. The win for Christchurch now means that both crews have 5 wins and the Hants & Dorset Championship will be decided at Bournemouth (Saturday 14th August).
Lymington also had a Senior Men’s crew who were knocked out in the first round and a Veteran 50 crew who made the Semi-final where they lost to Christchurch.
The final regatta of the season is 14th August at Bournemouth Pier starting at 11am.
