    Coastal Challenge

    Explore Rowing Summer Event Series

    Coastal Challenge

    Event Outline

    A.      General Information

The Coastal Challenge aims to inspire participants and spectators alike, providing a fun and challenging event while clearly exhibiting the rewarding and recreational pursuits that coastal rowing has to offer.

This event forms part of a summer series that British Rowing is running. The aim of the series is to illustrate the various pursuits of recreational rowing. The Coastal Challenge would be the inaugural event of the series.

The structure of the event is to have qualifying on the Saturday. This would entail a 25km round trip from Hengistbury Head to Bournemouth Pier. Crews would be timed over a 10km stretch. Those boats that meet the qualifying time would then, on Sunday, complete the round journey of rowing the Coastal Challenge: Hengistbury Head to The Needles, Isle of Wight.

Please note that crews would row to a point determined safe by race marshals – not The Needles precisely.

    When: Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th May 2011
